I made a pair of jeans!
October 24, 2017

I finally did it! I made jeans! Making jeans is something I’ve wanted to do for a while, but I was quite nervous about doing it. After making myself some trousers over summer, my confidence level increased enough for me to treat myself to the ever-popular Ginger Jeans sewing pattern designed by Closet Case Files.
To read more about it, check out my full post over on the Minerva site – they provided my fabric, zip, twin needle and rivets.
The verdict? I either need to size up or I need a stretchier denim!

This is something I’ve been meaning to do for 2 years! Congratulations! Your jeans look wonderful 🙂
Thank you! I put it off for about two years as well 😂
I made some jeans a few years ago, and while they fit like a dream and I wore them to death, they were so. fricking. tedious. I’ve considered making them again (especially since they discontinued the jeans I’ve been wearing), but time has not erased the memory of previous makes. 😉
And while these look pretty snug on you, depending on your denim, they may end up being just right after a few hours. And no two denims seem to be the same unless you buy from a factory anyway…
Haha! Well done on at least making one amazing pair of jeans! I’m not there yet! 👌
They don’t look too tight. They look perfect!
Thank you! They probably just need wearing in a bit! xxx
Your jeans look fabulous, I love the rainbow pocket! Agreeing with you on the instructions for the pocket linings, that had me scratching my head too, but the zip instructions are brilliant. I also had a lot of trouble with attaching rivets, and just gave up with them. I think somebody needs to invent better rivets!
Oh good, glad I’m not the only one who struggled to figure out the pockets! I like your flared version of the jeans. The rivets were a nightmare – wouldn’t bother with that type again! 😂 The fly instructions were very good. I’m going to make another pair, with different denim. Wish me luck! 😀
